Frolicking through Lavender Fields

The time we have been all waiting for. The item on the list I had for when I first realized that I would be traveling to Provence is finally here.

It has happened.

Provence lavender fields.

I stumbled off the crowded bus alongside other travelers near the Sault lavender fields. I ran across the road to get to a portion of violet majesty that seemed to stretch over miles before all of us. I did not, however, manage to get there before the clouds rolled in before poised cameras that would never do the image (or scent) justice.

Knowing that these fields would only bloom for this month this year with on and off heat waves, and also knowing the fact that I may not be in Provence again for some time, I made quick friends with each bud and every bee pollinating the rows.

Passing my phone off to another traveler, I decided to go for each pose as the sky already began to crumble into cold rain. I am sure they expected me to stand with the lavender and smile. And I did do that. I also did a few other things...

It's the hopeful blogger in me that someone will be like, "Oh, what an artistic photo there, Kendra. Very lavender field worthy."

Though I truly doubted anything would be worthy of the magnificence I had only saw pictures of myself until then. One thing I did not doubt. Though in rows, the lavender fields were much more opulent than any corn field in the sort of farming community I came from. The thought made me smile at the time.

Now, I suppose that have to. First of all. the lavender must undergo the pressure to live up to the gorgeous natural hype (and they do) each year. Corn just needs to taste good and create a decent maze around Halloween. Second, it is France, after all. They have have lavender and corn.

Both usually sold on market days. But that, is an event for another time.

Class, elegance, serenity.

I could bottle this lavender and make a best-selling perfume with any of those names.

In the moment however I decided instead of planning my entrance into the perfume industry with a scent between sleepy time tea and Rhysand from the Night Court (let me here you, ACOTAR fans), I continued to take as many pictures as I could as I ran back and forth through the fields.

I wish I had more time in them than I did.

Sometimes though, it is best to just enjoy the moment. It is best to folic a little longer, even after the poor soul I asked to take my photo multiple times got back on the bus to avoid the oncoming downpour. And sometimes, it is also best to take a deep breath and bring out your fairy side and not only frolic, but dance through the sea of purple.

There were silly thoughts, magical moments, and pretty dresses I could see people planned much like I did to compliment nature so perfectly. Even if it wasn't the perfect day up till then.

Even if it was raining.
