To the Castle! A day trip to Les Baux de la Provence

With my class after the fantastically wonderful Carrières de Lumières, we made our way up to Baux castle in Les Baux de la Provence.

This town I can only imagine had to have hosted a medieval film or two in its lifetime.

As I looked out over the little town, to be honest, if they hadn't shot a film here I was seeing a grand opportunity. Maybe it could be like the Rocky films, though instead of made, staring, and produced by Sylvester Stallone, I would take those bylines to make one of the grandest medieval love stories- or maybe a new genre of medieval rom-com? I don't know, I really would just be making the whole thing I am beginning to realize because I desperately want to wear the cool costumes. I always thought it would be an experience to be laced up in a corset and petticoat.

Was I born in the wrong style century?

Probably.

Then again though, I am not sure if I could have wandered as well through the ruins of the castle and lavender fields in such cumbersome day to day attire.

I definitely wouldn't have been able to shoot a crossbow.

Such things back in medieval time I am sure wouldn't be seen as ladylike as I felt badass.

As I hiked back through the castle and through the town I came across one thing I don't think I will ever be able to get over. Not the opportunity of becoming the creator of a medieval rom-com, but the BEST gelato ever.

Also, sign me up for the next ice cream photographer audition. That's a pretty fancy ice cream photo there of Stacitella and Lavender gelato if I do say so myself.

Even better, we looked really cute while we devoured them on the side of the road, attempting to stay in the shade as our day trip adventure came to a close.
